Oliva Activities In Oliva Things To Do In Oliva

Excursions in Oliva, Alicante

Oliva is in the Spanish region of Valencia on the northern edge of the Costa Blanca. This has long been a popular resort with the Spanish who either own or rent the thousands of apartments and villas which have been built in the area to accommodate the summer season. Oliva is becoming very popular with foreign tourists, attracted by 10 km of beautiful coastline and the excellent sports facilities here.

Dominating the coastline is the Oliva Nova Golf with a Country Club, set just meters back from the beach with its 18-hole golf course. The course was designed by Seve Ballesteros. The club has put Oliva on the golfing world map with golfers from the USA and all over Europe coming here to combine their favorite sport with the Spanish sunshine.

An amazing stretch of unspoilt and sandy beaches which are bordered by dunes with the backdrop of surrounding hills will delight the beach enthusiast. Oliva marshes with its complex network of lanes and canals, inland from Oliva were declared a Natural Park. The unique vegetation of canes and different grasses makes the area one of the most interesting wetland zones on the Mediterranean coast in the Costa Blanca.

There are many hotels in Oliva like the famous Parador hotel as well as a whole range of hostels and family run B&B's available.

Oliva is a very Spanish town in character which remains virtually untouched by tourism but still an interesting place to visit if you're into history, local culture and generally sampling a taste of real Spain.

Just 45 minutes drive south of Oliva is the totally different world of Benidorm. Benidorm boasts some of Spain's biggest holiday attractions including Terra Mitica theme park, Aqualandia water park and a wacky nightlife in which more or less where anything goes.

For a cheaper night out why not tour the tapas bars in the town for a taste of the Costra Blanca. You don't normally get free tapas here as you still do in parts of southern Spain, but these delicious local snacks are very reasonably priced and it's a fantastic way to sample the various regional specialties. Oliva is proud of its culinary heritage, so much so that groups of bar owners and restaurateurs have formed an association designed to revive and promote local dishes.
